Carved from a solid block of exotic rosewood, the 10.8cm king in this luxury series is one of the finest chess pieces we stock here at the Regency Chess Company. The imperious size brings with it a weightiness that feels brilliant to play with, an attribute shared by all of the Stretford Knight Chessmen matched perfectly here with our luxury Spanish made board constructed from wooden veneers of graded black anegre, maple and palisander rosewood. The chess pieces reflect beautifully in the high gloss finish.
The weight of the chessmen is complemented by an exquisite level of detail, something we have to thank our craftsmen for. The knight in this luxury chess set is of particular quality, boasting some of the finest hand carvings anywhere in the luxury range.
His flowing mane is obvious in its intricacy, while sharp-eyed connoisseurs will notice the indented neck, a feature that takes extraordinary skill to pull off consistently. Next to the knight is a thick rook that holds itself superbly on any chess board, with a heavy set appearance suggesting its reliability.
