Handmade in Italy, this phenomenal-looking walnut and elm veneer chessboard is finished in an extra-thick coating of quality lacquer. The walnut burl has an amazing depth of grain with a really seductive pattern that holds several different dark shades of colour. The inlaid veneer squares are bordered with an elegant strip of ebony that sections off the playing area from the edge.

The underside of the board features a lacquered wooden veneer and has felting pads to protect surfaces underneath. This board best suits ebony and rosewood pieces with a king height of 8.3 to 9.5cm.
