Intricately cut from solid brass, of regal height and weight, the Regency Chess Egyptian Series Chessmen offer perhaps the most distinctive presence on a chessboard of any pieces within our collection. Such is the mystery of this ancient civilization, it is unclear whether the queen in this set is a traditional queen or, in fact, a pharaoh herself. Female pharaohs such as Sobeknofru, Hatshepsut and Cleopatra certainly ruled with as much tact as any male Pharaoh. Alongside the royals are loyal servants acting as bishops, with an extraordinary replication of the Sphinx depicted as a knight on both sides. Acting as the rook, an engraved obelisk stands tall on each corner of the board, two of which are plated in nickel as are all the lighter pieces.
Each Egyptian chessman has a base diameter of 1.4 inches (36 mm), prompting us to recommend a large board to accommodate them.
